Methodology
Imagery in Motion (IM) is an innovative movement methodology, that moves the body in unconventional ways, using images from the worlds of nature and physics.
The method, developed by choreographer Oded Ronen, is based on years of research conducted working with dancers in dance companies and academies all over the world.
The images, which replace technical concepts and the aspiration for achievement, invite the body and mind to enter a world of fantasy, play, and self-discovery, a world where movement is created from imagination and feeling, and not just from external instruction.
I.M. practice connects intention, imagination, and movement. When body parts move from an accurate image, a natural crossing of physical and mental boundaries occurs. The experience created is not just artistic or physical, it is an experience of inner expansion and connection between body, mind, and heart.
From this coherence arises a sense of full presence, almost meditative , in which the movement becomes honest, total and human, thus honest. When this authenticity meets the viewer, it crosses the boundaries of the stage and touches directly the heart.
Originally created as a choreographic tool for working with professional dancers, over the years it has become apparent that it is suitable for anyone seeking to develop body awareness and inner connection, even without prior dance experience.
I.M. is a simple and serves as a direct bridge between the world of imagination and the world of physics, a movement language through which anyone can learn and fully express themselves.
The core of the method is based on four main elements:
PreMotion
It is the initial stage, the necessary preparatory element for applying the basics of the I.M. method. It allows the human body to move from a state of complete rest to a state of physical, mental and artistic readiness. Its purpose is to transform the dancer from the outside to the inside, from noise and physical and emotional tensions to action-oriented listening while combining warm-up, muscle lengthening and mobilization. Its purpose is to create an open base in the body and mind as a necessary initial part for applying I.M.
InnerMotion

It is the third element of the I.M. method. It creates harmony between the sophisticated physical task and the emotional state of the dancer, by providing a toolbox that allows for a continuous internal dialogue between the mind and the parts of the body, and enables dealing with barriers and fears that limit freedom of movement. InnerMotion builds full presence and stretches the sense of both emotional and physical capability.
MetaMotion
It is the second element of the I.M. method, which creates a bridge between imagination and movement. It is based on a physical and theoretical anatomical decomposition of the human body and its fusion with images from the worlds of nature, physics and mechanics to create fantasy driven movement.
The body then produces complex and layered movement from the inside out. MetaMotion allows you to experience movement as an evolving algorithm of images: the body interprets, changes and translates the metaphor in real time, thus enabling the tangibility of consciousness, expanding the boundaries of sensation, and creating an authentic and moving fingerprint for each person.
